2 suspects arrested after armed Merritt Island home invasion robbery

Two suspects were arrested Tuesday after a Merritt Island home invasion in which deputies say they held a man at gunpoint, stealing cash, valuables and his vehicle.

Mikel Bright, 18, and Quantavious Jackson, 21, went into the Lincoln Avenue residence of the alleged victim while he was sleeping, according to arrest reports from Brevard County Sheriff's Office.

Bright, agents said, was armed with a gun, which he used to strike the resident in the face before holding him at gunpoint.

While Bright, a Merritt Island resident, held the firearm on the resident, Jackson, a Cocoa man, stole $450, Puma shoes and an LG cell phone before both men left the residence in the man's 2003 Lincoln Town Car, according to arrest affidavits.

Both were positively identified by the alleged victim and arrested.

Jackson has been charged with home invasion robbery with a firearm or deadly weapon and grand theft of a motor vehicle. He is being held at the Brevard County Jail Complex in lieu of $65,000 bond.

Bright is being charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, home invasion robbery with a firearm and grand theft of a motor vehicle. He is being held in the jail in lieu of $112,000 bond.
