ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) - The Anderson City Police Department said Wednesday that a man suspected in three bank robberies earlier in the week was arrested after a car chase ended in a crash.

Two banks were robbed Tuesday and a third on Monday.

Police were called to the Suntrust bank on Liberty Highway at 12:40 p.m. Tuesday and the TD Bank near Clemson Boulevard at 12:50 p.m.

Investigators said the robberies are connected to the robbery at the South State Bank on East Greenville Street in Anderson on Monday.

Investigators say the suspect was wearing the same clothing in all three robberies. He also provided a note in each of the robberies that said, "Give me the money and no one gets hurt."

According to arrest warrants, the suspect got away with a total of $1,575 from the banks.

Anderson police chief Jim Stewart said officers identified the suspect as Lamont Taylor, who was taken into custody after a car chase ended in a crash.

Stewart said a Crime Stoppers tip led deputies to stakeout a home Taylor was staying in. When officers saw Taylor leaving in a vehicle Wednesday morning, they attempted a traffic stop on the SC 28 Bypass and a chase ensued.

The chase ended in a crash on Bleckley Street at North Murray Avenue, where Stewart said Taylor's vehicle struck a signpost while trying to make a turn at around 70 miles per hour.

Taylor was taken to the hospital with slight injuries.

Stewart said Taylor was a wanted fugitive out of California where he has a record including bank robbery and larceny.

Taylor was charged with three counts of entering a bank with intent to steal, failure to stop for blue light, and driving under the influence first offense, according to online jail records.

He was denied bond at a hearing on Thursday.
