Franklin Parish: Suspects arrested for bank robbery are no strangers to the law

FRANKLIN PARISH, La. (KNOE) - Sheriff Kevin Cobb says David Johnson of Rayville, and Lakendria Goings of Monroe knocked off the Winnsboro State Bank in Gilbert in broad daylight. Cobb says they were armed with an AR-15 and semi Semi-Automatic handgun.

There was a shootout after they opened fire on police and deputies on Highway 15 during their getaway.

"We were fortunate to have people in the right place at the right time and have ample amount of manpower to address this properly," Cobb said.

This isn't the first time this Bonnie and Clyde duo had police on their tail.

"Both of these individuals have criminal history, one of the individuals has a substantial criminal history," Cobb said.

Johnson has nearly 20 charges dating back to 1999 in Louisiana, Texas, North Carolina, and Georgia. Those charges range from burglary to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Goings was charged with simple assault earlier this year.

They can add five more charges to the list, including bank robbery, and shooting at police.

Both suspects were taken to the Franklin Parish Detention Center Monday.
