PD: Bank robber engages police in pursuit from RI to Connecticut

ANSONIA, Conn. (WTNH) - On Thursday, Bruce Rowley, age 26, was arrested for allegedly robbing Webster Bank in Ansonia the previous day.

Police say two people identified Rowley, a Derby resident, as the person who committed the robbery. After investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant and search warrants for Rowley, his residence, and the car he used during the robbery.

The Ansonia Police Department listed his car as "wanted" in a national database. Rhode Island State Police found Rowley driving south on Interstate 95.

After police attempted to stop the car, Rowley allegedly refused and engaged the police in a pursuit that continued into Connecticut.

Connecticut State Police joined the pursuit and eventually stopped Rowley at exit 89 on I-95 after using spike strips to flatten the tires on Rowley's car.

After Rowley's arrest, he confessed to the robbery. Rowley is being held on a $100,000 bond and is set to appear in Derby court on April 6.
