Police release photos of man sought in Jacksonville bank robbery
Synovus Bank near River City Marketplace held up Wednesday afternoon
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Police have released surveillance pictures of a man who they said robbed the Synovus Bank of Jacksonville on Airport Center Drive, just east of the River City Marketplace, on Wednesday afternoon.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said the man, who was described as being in his late 30s or early 40s, entered the bank at 3:20 p.m. when there were no customers inside, handed a teller a note demanding money, then left on foot with the cash. Police said no gun was shown.
According to the police report, when the bandit handed the teller the note, he said, “I don’t want to hurt anyone, just give me the money with no dye packs or tracers.” He told her he wanted $100 bills and $50 bills, and made her take money out of two drawers. How much money he got away is unclear.
Police described the man as being about 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing about 200 pounds, and having a salt and pepper goatee. He was last seen wearing a tan hat, a light blue long-sleeve shirt, a white undershirt, khaki shorts, and black and white tennis shoes.
Anyone who recognizes the man is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 904-630-0500. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
This is the 15th Jacksonville bank robbed this year. There have been arrests in all of the previous holdups.
